Tour Dates
Tour Overview
Kanha is a park of two distinct settings. Dense sal forest gives way to large open maidans without warning, creating a striking contrast during safari drives. One moment you may be moving through shaded forest roads, and the next you may be watching the meadow open into the morning light. In winter, mist often sits over the grass before slowly lifting as the sun rises.
The park is also known for its conservation success with the Hard-Ground Barasingha. Once reduced to a very small population, these deer now move through the Kanha meadows in healthy herds. The reserve also supports a substantial tiger population, along with leopard, dhole, gaur and sloth bear.
Winter brings cold mornings, frost on the grass and soft light across the maidans. Seven safaris across four nights allow time to explore different areas of the reserve and return to locations that are producing wildlife activity. The repeated time in the field also gives photographers more opportunities to work with changing light, backgrounds and animal behaviour.
