Tour Overview

Pench sits across the Madhya Pradesh–Maharashtra border, where teak forests, bamboo thickets and open meadows meet the Pench River. The forest becomes more open in winter as the undergrowth thins, creating longer sightlines and excellent conditions for wildlife photography. Cool mornings also bring clear winter light across the landscape.

The reserve is known for its healthy tiger population and has a strong history of tiger breeding. Leopards, dhole and Indian gaur also move through the forest, while sloth bears may appear along the nullahs. The Pench River and its backwaters attract a steady variety of winter birds, making the park rewarding for both wildlife photographers and birdwatchers.

Five safaris across three days give you time to understand the forest and follow the signs of wildlife movement. From langur alarm calls to tracks and familiar routes, repeated drives allow you to build a better sense of the park. Guests travelling only on the Pench departure arrive and depart via Nagpur, while those continuing with the Winter Tiger Marathon move directly to Kanha after the final morning.
